Cuemath Nabs $15 Million in Series B Round from Alphabet
Education start-up Cuemath, run by Cuelearn Pvt. Ltd, has raised $15 million in Series B round of funding led by equity investment fund of Alphabet Inc., CapitalG (formerly known as Google Capital). Existing investor Sequoia India also participated in the round. Bengaluru-based Cuemath provides after-school math classes. It uses physical worksheets, quiz cards, along with other tablet-based content it develops in-house and targets students from lower kindergarten to Class 8. It operates on a micro-franchisee model, where local tutors sign up with the company to conduct classes at their home. The company will use the funds for business expansion and product development.

Khel Now Gets Funding from Thailand Company
Sports mobile social platform Khel Now on Monday announced that Thailand-based Indochine International Co. Ltd. has invested $500,000 into the company. Khel Now, launched in July last year by Agnificent Platform Technologies, connects sports fans and other stakeholders – associations, leagues, teams, coaches, academies, fields, gyms, sporting brands, businesses – from around the world using relevant, timely, location-specific and crowd-sourced content and social networking. Khel Now intends to use Indochine’s investment across the ASEAN region to grow beyond India and South Asia.

NowFloats Grabs $10 Million Funding from Iron Pillar, IIFL & Others
NowFloats has closed a Series B funding of $ 10 million via Iron Pillar and IIFL along with Blume Ventures & Omidyar Network. NowFloats currently offers a platform for local businesses to get online by creating local content and managing & updating their online presence. For this, the company offers three flagship products Lighthouse, Wildfire and Dictate. Lighthouse offers merchants updates via its web portal, custom background on websites, unlimited gallery images and email addresses. Wildfire on the other hand offers organic traffic optimisation, along with driving inorganic traffic. With Dictate, the company assigns a representative to understand the business and get the latest business updates, and post offers, updates or products on the website. The company plans to invest this capital to further improve the new technology stack that drives customer support, it would now be a hybrid of automated and human interaction support system.

IoT Startup SmarterHi Raises Funding from Singapore-based Investors
SmarterHi Communications, one of the only Indian startups working in the cutting-edge space of enterprise communications and IOT security, has received a strategic investment from a Singapore-based entity. The 2 year old, Pune-based security service providing startup was founded by Sirni Narayanan and Pradeep Vasudev. Their flagship model, Assertion is a B2B security verification solution which is mainly meant for the large enterprises and contact centers. The system helps the user to adopt policy-oriented approach communicable system security. The product enables the process of checking the communications process automatically, which implies with the rules and regulation which are enforced by the management. The company claims that, assertion is used by a global bank in Singapore and works fluently without any errors.

The 10 Startups Shortlisted For Startupbootcamp Fintech in Mumbai
Startupbootcamp FinTech, the global accelerator for fintech startups, has announced the names of the 10 startups that will join its inaugural programme in Mumbai. The cohort was selected after a final evaluation over three days called ‘Selection Days’. The programme, focussing on accelerating startups in areas such as digital identities, blockchain, personal finance management, compliance and alternative data-based credit scoring. The intensive 3+1 month programme provides startups with an intense, structured mentorship, office space in Mumbai, funding, and access to a global network of investors and VCs. The startups will connect with leading financial corporates in India who will provide the finalists with access to pilot customers, industry data, APIs, and integration support. Each of the teams will receive nearly about $16 K (€15,000) on 6% equity. Apart from this, startups will be given three months free office space in Lower Parel, at the startup hub ‘Garage’ by Jetlabs.
